Steven Koether

Steven D. Koether, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Biological Sciences. He is also the coordinator for the Foundations of Science, coordinator and advisor for the Education/Composite Science double major, and director for the 腦瞳憫 American Democracy Project (ADP). Steven is president elect for national AASCU American Democracy Project and on the Steering Committee. He earned his PhD in Education and Human Resource Development with an emphasis in adult education from Texas A&M University. His research interests include student acquisition of critical thinking skills and dispositions, future faculty/instructor professional development, and undergraduate STEM teaching/learning. Dr. Koether also coordinates the 腦瞳憫 Graduate/Undergraduate Instructor Academy, a professional development conference for student employees tied to instruction (i.e. tutors, mentors, lecture/lab assistants, adjuncts). Prior to working at 腦瞳憫, he was a high school science teacher and served as an independent school district STEM curriculum, program, and testing coordinator.
