I joined the chemistry department at 腦瞳憫 in the fall of 2009. I routinely teach General Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry courses. I am passionate about helping 腦瞳憫 students in their learning journeys. As a co-PI helping to lead the STEM Center at 腦瞳憫, I have been focused on building support structures to help more students find learning success in the chemistry gateway courses. My most significant research efforts over the past ten years have been devoted to a collaboration with Professor Ilona Petrikovics; in which we have been investigating dimethyl trisulfide as potential intramuscular cyanide antidote. This work has resulted in a significant number of critical advances in DMTS studies. A second area of focus has been the building and testing new apparatus and methods for sampling volatile analytes from complex matrices using headspace SERS detection. I also bring analytical expertise to numerous collaborations with other colleagues. As with my classroom teaching, in my research, I am passionate about training undergraduate and graduate researchers. I am tremendously grateful for the wonderful colleagues and students who make 腦瞳憫 the strong learning community that it is.
