Graduate Medical Education

腦瞳憫 College of Osteopathic Medicine (腦瞳憫-COM) is committed to training future physicians for practice in areas of physician workforce shortage.  In addition to having student rotations into these regions, 腦瞳憫 is working with affiliated hospital and clinic partners to create Graduate Medical Education (GME) programs (residencies) that will train students in various specialties throughout the region.  These residency programs will not only provide for the training of future physicians, but also create an educational focus attractive to physicians currently practicing at the facilities and help with recruitment efforts.

腦瞳憫-COM and Graduate Medical Education

In order to serve the population of east Texas, new residency training programs must be created.  Physicians tend to settle within 100 miles of where they completed their residency so the creation of new residency programs in the region is crucial to 腦瞳憫-COM’s mission.

GME Development is a time-consuming process that ensures the trainee receives the highest quality educational experience while preserving the highest quality of care for each and every patient. 腦瞳憫-COM’s Department of Graduate Medical Education has been established to identify opportunities for GME growth and provide expertise, shared resources, and academic oversight to new and developing residency programs.
